The Air Canada patch will be stitched onto the upper right chest area of the team’s white jerseys. The change comes into effect Wednesday night, when the Canadiens take on the Anaheim Ducks in California.
The announcement comes more than a year after the Canadiens agreed to display the Royal Bank of Canada’s logo on their iconic home jerseys. Several fans expressed their displeasure at the move.
Air Canada is the team’s official airline.
“It’s a privilege for us to have a longstanding relationship with Canada’s national carrier in Air Canada, and we’re proud to formalize a partnership that will showcase Air Canada’s brand whenever we play on the road,” France Margaret Bélanger, who heads Groupe CH’s sports and entertainment unit, said in a statement.
“We entrust Air Canada to move our players from city to city, and now that connection will be featured on the ice itself, as our team plays before our fans in NHL markets everywhere.”
