This is the third consecutive season that Dach will miss a large number of games due to injury.

Head coach Martin St. Louis said Dach was frustrated by the injury.

“He’s definitely disappointed. It’s hard, second game of the season, all that time you put in to build yourself up for this. It’s hard,” St. Louis said.

Dach, 22, was traded to the Canadiens from the Blackhawks during the 2022 NHL Draft. In September 2022, he signed a four-year, $13.45-million contract with the team.

He had 14 goals and 24 assists in 58 games with the Canadiens last season.
