The Canadiens opened the NHL season with a wild 6-5 shootout loss to the Maple Leafs Wednesday night in Toronto.

They Canadiens took a 2-0 lead before falling behind 3-2 and then going ahead 5-3 before the Leafs scored twice with their goalie pulled in favour of an extra attacker late in the third period and won in a shootout.

There’s a lot to break down from the game from the Canadiens’ perspective — both good (two goals by Alex Newhook) and bad (some shaky goaltending by Jake Allen).
